Alexander: Senate Confirms Tennessean A.B. Culvahouse to Serve as Ambassador to Australia

United States Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement after the Senate confirmed Tennessean A.B. Culvahouse, Jr., to serve as Ambassador of the United States of America to the Commonwealth of Australia:

"A.B. Culvahouse, Jr., is the most accomplished lawyer I know, and I do not know many public servants more accomplished than he is. That might sound extravagant, but I mean it sincerely. I'm glad the Senate confirmed his nomination today, and I know he will have a wonderful experience ahead of him -- and I must say, I'm more than a little jealous that he is the Tennessean who gets to be the Ambassador of Australia."

Alexander introduced Culvahouse at his confirmation hearing before the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee. After Culvahouse was nominated by President Trump, Alexander said his "experience as counsel to President Reagan and President Trump and former Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker, and his leadership of one of the world's major law firms equip him to represent our country well."
